Directions:
- Stamp on the Parchment using the Puccini's Muse with Pearlescent Ivy Ink.
- Leave or heat to dry.
- Make the background card: On a palette squeeze dark green and a little white acrylic paint.
Mix with fabric paint or gel for thicker texture.
- Using a firm bristled flat paintbrush roughly paint the green mixed with a little white over the card.
- With mostly dark green and a smudge of white paint in a swirl pattern over the card pressing the hard bristles onto the surface giving a feathery, two - tone effect.
Optional: add a few dots of gold paint or powder. Leave to dry.
- Emboss your chosen stencil design around the stamped parchment.
- Mount onto the trimmed green painted card.
- Mount again onto the white card and notch the corners as shown.
- Wind around the gold thread and add the charm.
- Mount onto the main card.
Notes:
- If you cannot find coloured parchment it is very easy to colour yourself using oil pastels, which are inexpensive and can be bought in sets or singly from art suppliers.
- Just scribble the flat side of a pastel evenly over the surface and taking a tissue with a drop of fragrance oil or barbeque lighter fuel rub over the pastel to blend.
Leave to dry. The fragrance oil leaves a lovely perfume but watch out for the oily surface. Bar-B-Q fuel is perfect, dries quickly and has little smell.
- Try using two or three colours for a shaded effect, very pretty and easy to do. If your first attempt is not good just add more pastel and blend again until you are satisfied with the result.
- Card sizes are approximate to allow for choice of stencilled surround on the parchment.
- Try the painted layer in other colours; it makes a very good background that can be easily co-ordinated with your card design thanks to the large range and accessibility of acrylic paints .
